In 2006, he was accepted into the Haggai Institute leadership network, which promotes global evangelism and Christian leadership development.
He is also a Juliette Massey Complimentary Member of the World Aquaculture Society (WAS), in recognition of his contributions to aquaculture development and international collaboration.
Community Leadership and Advocacy
Professor Oben is the founding President of the Cameroon Fish Farmers Union (CAMFFU), a regional body dedicated to improving the livelihoods of fish farmers through sustainable production practices, training, research, and policy advocacy. Under his leadership, CAMFFU has grown into a critical voice for fisheries development in Cameroon’s South West Region.
Spiritual Calling and Ministry
Beyond his academic and scientific pursuits, Professor Pius Mbu Oben is deeply committed to spiritual service and moral leadership. He is an ordained and licensed minister of the Gospel, holding:
A Certificate of License to Preach and Teach the Gospel from the World For Jesus International Church Fellowship, Tampa, Florida (USA, 2010),
A Doctor of Philosophy in Theology, and
A Master of Arts in Ministry, both from Cornerstone University and Theological Seminary, Jerusalem and the USA.
In addition to his ministry, he serves in key moral and civic capacities. He is a Peace Judge with the rank of Sub-Lieutenant, where he contributes to promoting justice, mediation, and community harmony. He also serves as a Chaplain with CONACCE UN (Confraternity of Chaplains for the United Nations), providing spiritual care, conflict resolution, and faith-based support in both institutional and community contexts.
His roles in chaplaincy and peace service reflect a deep commitment to building not just knowledge but also peace, integrity, and purpose in society.
